Case Study: The Hsu Lab
THE HSU LAB
AN OPEN SCHOLAR CASE STUDY
How The Hsu Lab at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine launched a modern website that its PIs could update anytime, anywhere.
THE CHALLENGE
The Hsu Lab is part of Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, and is led by a unique clinician + scientist team that was named Feinberg’s 2018 Faculty Mentor of the Year.
Molecular toxicologist Erin Hsu and her husband, orthopaedic surgeon Wellington Hsu have built a lab that is a family, and is dedicated to mentoring rising star professors, technicians, and fellows. Hsu lab develops novel biomaterials for bone regeneration that are more effective and safer than current clinically available products.
Erin and Wellington both have Northwestern University faculty profiles, but they didn’t have a dedicated Hsu lab website.
They wanted a lab website that:
- Increased visibility for their team members, alumni, research, and publications.
- Reflected their clean and modern aesthetic.
- They could manage without code and update easily any time.
THE SOLUTION
OpenScholar and Erin talked through the lab’s content strategy and assets.
We customized a lab website from our template library to match their content categories, modern aesthetic and brand colors.
From there the Hsu Lab collected their content, and OpenScholar built and launched their website that would be easy for any team member to update.
THE RESULTS
Hsu Lab now has a modern and mobile-responsive website to build their brand online.
It’s where they’ll share research and highlight team wins, link to from social media and attract future talent.
